Nana has contributed immensely to shaping Ghana’s Media Landscape. Many of the significant gains made in Ghana’s media are as a result of her contributory work, for which she has been much celebrated.

Under her management, Joy Prime was amongst the Top 3 TV Stations in Ghana and fast became one of Africa’s most loved Television brands, reaching millions of homes across West and Central Africa. GENDER MAINSTREAMING & THE SDGs

Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong has been empowering women for the last eighteen (18) years. She is the Founder and President of Women in Sustainability Africa (WiSA) — a coordinating Pan-African Organization launched in partnership with the UN Global Compact and the Government of Ghana.

WiSA works with CSOs, Corporate Institutions, and Local, Continental and International Development Organizations to bring women and women groups together, especially at the grassroots level, to foster the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across Africa.
www.womeninsustainabilityafrica.org

WiSA stands for the development of new perspectives and catalytic ideas towards accelerating growth for the achievement of the SDGs, including closing the Gender Inequality gap. WiSA believes that to build a sustainable Africa, women must be pushed and supported to lead the drive for the achievement of the SDGs so the world can be left in a better shape than it was found.

This must be achieved alongside bridging the gender inequality gap through a two-pronged approach:

  • First is the recognition of women as a major source of labour with positive return on every investment to build capacity in women
  • Second is the unanimous agreement that it will take the collaborative efforts of both men and women to lead the closure of the gender inequality gap — men standing side by side with women to lift up and empower women.

Nana is also the Convener of the Annual WiSA Summit, whose maiden edition on May 1st, 2025 saw over 800 registered participants with many more in attendance.

Eighteen (18) years ago, Nana Yaa founded and operated the League of Extraordinary Women (LOEW) and led the organisation of its first conference in 2007.
