WELCOME TO THE NEW MOVEMENT TO CLOSE SDGs GAP
WOMEN IN SUSTAINABILITY AFRICA (WiSA) is defined by COLLABORATION.
As 2030 approaches, Women In Sustainability Africa (WiSA) has been launched on behalf of all Women of Africa and of African Descent, to mark a new beginning to accelerate growth towards the closure of the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) gaps, through the deliberate involvement of women.
WiSA is a Coordinating Pan-African Organization that work with other CSOs, Corporate Institutions, local and International Development Organizations and individuals to bring all women and women groups together (especially those at the grassroots level) to foster the achievement of the SDGs across Africa.
WiSA stands for the development of new perspectives and catalytic ideas towards accelerating growth for the achievement of the SDGs including Gender Inequality.
WiSA believes that to build a sustainable Africa, women must be pushed and supported to lead the drive for the achievement of the SDGs so we can leave this world in a better shape than we came to meet it. And this must be achieved alongside bridging the gender inequality gap through a two-pronged approach.
First is the recognition of women as a source of labour with positive return on every investment that is made to build capacity in women. Any thriving economy will need the full strength of its available labour force and women constitute about half, therefore where governments, development organisations, corporations and individuals invest in women, there would be a return on investment, because women are a major source of labour to any economy in Africa; if she were a subsistence farmer, now she would be doing industrial farming, that is a higher productivity and higher capacity, and the GDP will improve.
Second is the unanimous agreement that the collaborative efforts of both men and women will lead to the closure of the gender inequality gap. That is, men standing side by side with women to lift up and empower women. WiSA redefines INCLUSION to include working hand in hand with men, all persons, bodies and He for She Champions to fast track the achievement of the SDGs and to lift up the economic and productivity status of all women of African descent. Together we stand, Divided we fall.
VISION
To build a sustainable Africa where women lead the transformation toward achieving the SDGs.
